Brahman Daycare | Pippy Donaldson
Pippy Donaldson is a self-taught watercolour artist born in Narrabri where she grew up on her family mixed farming property near Boggabri. Now residing near Wee Waa, Pippy creates watercolour artworks from her home studio with the company of her ‘working’ dogs. Pippy strives to continually develop her practice as well as working as a healthcare professional by day. Inspired by all facets of agriculture and the mundane in rural life, Pippy hopes to create art that appeals, and continues to evolve as she continues to explore her practice.
Her donated piece, ‘Brahman Daycare’ captures a small, friendly herd of first-timer Brahman heifers and some of their calves, happily unconcerned with who belongs to whom. Drawn by curiosity, the girls step forward to inspect the intruder in their paddock.
This work lingers on finer details captured by small brush strokes and blending to capture the soft layered brahman skin and the movement of their stride that hint at personality as much as breed.
