Cotton Stem | Georgie Guilfoyle
Georgie is a young artist gradually building my name through my art business, ‘Just Draw By Georgie’, drawing inspiration directly from life on the land. At 24, Georgie is living in Walgett, NSW, while regularly returning to her family’s property just south of Crookwell to help with cattle work. Balancing farm life with creativity has become a defining part of who she is and continues to shape her artistic style.
What began as a simple hobby, sketching and painting for friends and family, has now grown into a genuine pursuit of becoming a full-time artist. Her work often features subjects such as cattle, well-worn work boots and fresh produce, complemented by softer influences from time spent in my flower garden. These everyday details are brought to life through hand-painted illustrations that celebrate the character, simplicity and authenticity of country living.
Georgie’s donated piece, ‘Cotton Stem’(33x33cm) acrylic, framed in Tasmanian oak, is inspired by life on the land and the quiet beauty of working landscapes. The contrast between the white balls and the solid stem highlights the strength and simplicity of cotton. Like much of her work, it celebrates everyday rural details and the stories they quietly hold.
