Up the Pass | Jessie Hartwig-Boutkan

Jessie is an artist and owner of Farbe studio, based in Margaret River, working in figurative abstraction. Her practice simplifies form to explore composition, colour and spatial balance, with an emphasis on saturated colour and surface texture. Alongside painting, Jessie incorporates short prose that draws on nostalgic language and visual narrative. Together, image and text explore memory, place, and the inherited histories and fictions of Australian bush lore.

Jessie’s donated piece, ‘Up the Pass’ is mixed media on board, framed in solid spotted gum. The slow action of a passage up an incline, a herd of horses make their way.
