Roger That | Sophie Twidale

Sophie moves between two worlds with ease. Part time teacher, part time artist, her practice is shaped by the energy she brings to both. A sense of curiosity, a love of colour, and an appreciation for the small, everyday moments.

She grew up on a cattle and cropping property outside of Millmerran, where life was full. Full of noise, full of people, full of food, and full of work. That upbringing sits at the centre of her work. She paints what feels like home. Flowers, table settings, handwritten recipes, machinery, paddocks. Her landscapes and machinery reflect her father’s steady commitment to the land, showing up season after season regardless of what it brings. Her still life works draw from her mother’s warmth, the kind of hospitality that makes a house feel open to anyone who walks through the door.

This donated piece 'Roger That' - an ode to the farmers and farming families who show up with resilience each and every season. This green machine is for you - it also requires a little less maintenance than the real thing!
