Paddock to Paper | Henrietta Johnston

Henrietta is the artist behind Chook House. The name comes from a childhood nickname and her farm upbringing, shaped by long days around the chook yard. It’s a simple nod to where it all began.

Art has always been part of her life. After some time away, she returned to painting and now works at it most days, focusing on the process and letting the work evolve over time. Her paintings draw from what she knows. Australian landscapes, native flora and fauna, and the familiar colours of country life. 

In February, she set herself a challenge to paint every day. The result is a series of small acrylic works, each one reflecting moments and places that have stayed with her. Rather than one larger piece, she chose to share a collection that’s become her donated piece, Paddock to Paper.
