Every Man and His Cap #6 | Millie Unthank

Millie Unthank describes herself as nostalgic and sentimental, and her work reflects exactly that. Her dynamic life experiences [she’s spent as much time in Melbourne as she has in the North] shape her fun, funky and mega playful works of art.

Her donated piece, Every Man and His Cap #6, is a 12 x 12 inch square work. The scale is intimate, inviting closer inspection. The subject centres on caps, capturing a core symbol of country culture.

Millie’s practice plays with repetition and familiarity. The square format reinforces a sense of contained memory, almost archival in feeling. Her work feels like flipping through an old family album, only reframed for contemporary walls.
